The Chinese embassy in Canada on Thursday slammed Ottawa's decision to ban Huawei and ZTE from working on Canada's fifth-generation networks, saying the move violated market economy principles and free trade rules.
The Canadian government made the decision to exclude the Chinese companies from the Canadian market on national security grounds "without any concrete evidence," said a spokesperson for the embassy.
China will comprehensively and seriously evaluate the case and take all necessary measures to safeguard the legitimate rights and interests of Chinese companies, the spokesperson added.
